Westside Pavillion – One of the Largest Malls in the Country
Westside Pavilion is one of the major attractions of the city of Los Angeles. It is a major Shopping Mall located in West Los Angeles. It is a huge shopping center, three stories tall. It houses 150 shops including a massive Macy’s. The mall also includes a 12 screen movie theater.
The Westside Pavilion was opened in 1985 and is one of the largest malls in the United States. It makes up almost 750,000 square feet. The very first Aeropostale clothing store in the country opened in this mall in 1987. To say that the center is enormous isn’t telling enough.
Much of the mall was renovated in 2000 and made to appear fancier. The mall has been through many ups and downs throughout its history, including some closings. Barnes & Noble left the mall in 2011. In 2015 Nordstrom announced that it would take out its store from the mall in 2017.
Going through a number of ups and downs
This mall has been a part of wider Los Angeles culture and in some different films. It was in the music video for the Tom Petty song Free Fallin’. It was also featured in the movie Clueless. With major issues at the mall, of course, we cannot predict what will happen in the future. Of course, we hope that the mall does very well in the future in that there are many swords and customers to boot.
We hope that this article provides you some insight on another aspect of Los Angeles and its culture. A mall is a part of the culture in many ways just as other landmarks within the city. If you have any questions or would like to get involved, please make sure to send us an email.
