A Top College – USC
The University of Southern California, or USC, is a significant private university in Los Angeles. It is also a major Center for Learning and Sports. The college was founded in 1880 and is the oldest private research University in the entire state. There is a wide swath of study at the college and is one of the leading Research Institute in the nation.
A Center of Learning
The College estimates that it pumps in about eight billion dollars annually into the economy of the overall Los Angeles area. It employs almost 18,000 people and has about 43,000 students. About 19000 of these are undergrads, and about 24000 of these are graduates. Overall this campus is about 300 acres in size and has the sports team the Trojans.
It is a significant player in NCAA tournaments and more. It is one of the top universities in the world and has some major degrees in both the humanities and in The Sciences. When the college opened, it had a tuition rate of just $15 per term.
Over the years, the education focus of the college has shifted. After 2007, the majority of students in our graduate students up rather than undergraduate students. There are five Nobel laureates on staff, as well as eight Rhodes Scholars. The college also has a significant foot in Hollywood including the USC Dana and David Dornsife College of Letters, Arts Colleges, and Sciences.
This is the oldest in the largest of the USC schools. It grants 130 majors and minors degrees across the humanities, social sciences, and physical sciences. It also offers doctorates and master’s degrees in 120 fields.
Overall, it should be apparent why and how USC became one of the top colleges in California and attracted so many students from across the country and the world. It should remain so for a long time to come.
