History of the LA Museum of Art
A small article can’t do the Los Angeles County Museum of Art justice. But we will try in the small amount of space that we have to explain it best. The Los Angeles County Museum of Art, or the LACMA, is a major Museum located on Wilshire Boulevard within the Miracle Mile of Los Angeles. It is also one of our articles on the long history and culture of Los Angeles.
History at Your Fingertips
The art museum was founded in 1910 and is currently the largest art museum in the western part of the United States. It also attracts almost a million people every year. It has about 150,000 Works Within its walls. It also hosts some film and concert series. The Museum of Art was separated from the wider La Museum of History, Science, and Art in 1961.
From here at the Museum began to take off. Much of the museum is funded through private donations, including over 200 million dollars donated during the 1980s. Also, the museum complex was renovated in the 2000s.
There is a diverse number of exhibitions within the museum itself, including modern and traditional Arts. There are also some ancient artifacts and artworks within the museum itself. There’s also a healthy mix of American and Latin American Art, as well as traditional Asian art. The museum has a surprising diversity of art from around the world, from Islamic calligraphy to decorative art.
