Near So Much of the City’s History – Los Feliz
In many ways, Los Feliz is right near the action. It abuts the Santa Monica Mountains as well as Hollywood. It is one of the more unique parts of Los Angeles and is the topic of our next article on the many neighborhoods and history of the City of Angels.
Also in the LA Mountains?
The actual population figures relatively low it about 30000, but it is within a small area. This makes the overall density very high, about 13000 per square mile. The area is heavily diverse, with about half the population being white with an increasing number of Latinos as well as Asians and others. The nearby hills commonly referred to as the Los Feliz Hills are home to many expensive homes and other features.
This helps make this area in some ways both average and also very wealthy. The area has long been home to many movie Executives and stars, which also allows it to become a part of overall Los Angeles and Hollywood history.
The city was also home to several movie studios, including DW Griffith, who is most famous for making Birth of a Nation, one of the most racist films in early movie history. However, Griffith was also one of the pioneers of many aspects of film-making. It was also the place where first Charlie Chan movies were filmed. All of this makes it an exciting place with a diverse history.
This concludes yet another article about the long history of Los Angeles and its many neighborhoods. We hope that you’ll keep reading in our series and enjoy the many facets of culture and geography that make Los Angeles the place that it is.
