The attraction offers food of all shapes and sizes, often at very competitive prices. No matter whether you are looking for something mundane or exotic, chances are you’ll find it here.
For more info you can take a look at the site’s website here. There is simply so much to offer for families, dating couples, single people, and foodies alike. Chances are no matter how many times you return that you will never see it all. When you’re considering where to go in the greater LA area, certainly make sure that this is on the list.
The facility, at 6333 W 3rd Street, has long been a significant destination. It’s open seven days a week, with 12 hour days from Monday to Friday and 9 am to 8 pm Saturday, and 10 am to 7 pm Sunday. There is ample parking spaces and access there for public transport.
The market has its roots back to 1880 when A.F. Gilmore bought the property around the area– and soon expanded with the 1900s oil boom. However, the first actual sales happened when a series of farmers came together in 1934 and opened up the first grocer’s markets. It was an instant hit, with more people and farmers joining in the fun throughout 1934 and further.
This led to a Fall Festival at the Farmer’s Market that fall. Now with the iconic clock tower as a major part of the scenery, the market grew and grew further. The 1948 clock tower helped distinguish it and bring in more visitors. These include many Hollywood stars, including Shirley Temple, Eva Gardner, and Marilyn Monroe. Heck, even President Dwight Eisenhower paid a visit.
