Atwater Village – A Different Part of the City
Atwater Village is not just another part of Los Angeles. as a matter of fact it makes up a significant portion of the city and is a largely diverse neighborhood. It is also within the overall Los Angeles River flood plain end is in the Northeast part of the city. It has many interesting neighbors including the great Griffith Park and Silver Lake. As a matter of fact, it is one of the parts of the city with one of the highest percentages of residents born abroad.
A Unique Mix of LA Residents
This neighborhood has a unique mix of residents, with many immigrants often from Latin America. However, there are many young professionals, off and white, moving into the area. This lends to the gentrification of the overall area and a higher proportion of young whites. Beyond that there are about 17,000 residents in the area of Atwater Village.
Overall, this makes up about two square miles, one of the smallest parts of the city, but about an average population density. The median income is about average for the city, around $50,000 per capita.
Only about 20% of the residents of the city received higher education and the city is only home to 3 schools. However it is close to several major thoroughfares. This includes I-5, SR 134, and Interstate 110. These sets of influences will certainly make it one of the more interesting parts of the city for the years to come.
